Indian New-Age Tech Stocks See Mixed Fortunes Amidst Q1 Earnings Season

Indian new-age technology stocks experienced a mixed week as the June quarter earnings season commenced, with Fino Payments Bank emerging as a significant gainer while insurtech firm Go Digit led the decliners. Investor sentiment remained largely cautious despite a positive broader market trend.

According to Inc42, out of 58 tracked new-age tech companies, 39 saw their stock prices fall between 0.38% and nearly 10%. The cumulative market capitalization for these companies declined from $143.54 billion to $142.41 billion over the week.

Fino Payments Bank recorded a substantial 29.16% increase, closing at ₹174.95. This surge followed its June business update, which indicated early signs of an operational turnaround. The bank reported a 31% year-on-year increase in new deposit accounts, adding over 3.1 lakh accounts, and an 11% rise in average deposits to ₹2,755 crore. Digital engagement also improved, with active FinoPay users jumping 38%. Its loan referral business was a key driver, with disbursals surging 3.5 times year-on-year to ₹240 crore, a crucial factor as the bank eyes a transition to a small finance bank.
